In 2009 the California food stamp program, then known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), began a rebranding initiative.
They hired Yellow Brick Road to lead this project, and Yellow Brick Road contracted with me to design the logo.
The goal of the rebrand was to overcome the negative connotations associated with food stamps and tout that government programs can enable people to buy healthier food.
To deliver this message, I worked
with the Yellow Brick Road team to design a logo that looks fresh, clean, contemporary, and alludes to California’s rich local produce.
I designed English and Spanish versions of the logo that can be used
in print or on the web. I also wrote
and designed a document that outlines proper usage.
