For my senior thesis project I created two educational animations on the topic of dinosaurs. They are geared toward a young audience, and could
be shown in a children’s museum or
in the classroom.
The visual language I developed was inspired by mid-century educational books and film reels. Some of the visual elements I drew myself; others, I appropriated and edited digitally.
Creating these animations was an exercise in “show-and-tell.” I had to decide which information was best illustrated visually, and which information should be narrated.
I used Flash for the animation, and Audacity to edit the narration and sound effects.
